Spring is just around the corner and that means it’s time to dig out the sprinkler system instructions or the hose in preparation for the irrigation season. Beginning Thursday, April 1, 2010, Stage 2 conservation begins and lawns can be watered twice weekly. Look for a Stage 2/Sod Permit flyer enclosed with your March statement and be sure to visit our Watering Schedule page for guidelines and other important Stage 2 information.

There are a number of watering techniques you can implement to maximize the health and growth of your lawn, even on a two-day watering schedule.

  • Water in the early morning or late evening to maximize saturation
  • Water in cycles – five minutes on, five minutes off – to allow soil penetration and prevent run-off
  • Split your watering cycles between morning and evening on your assigned watering days
  • Sidewalks and driveways won’t grow if you water them. Be sure to adjust your sprinkler heads so they can deliver water where it’s needed most

Sod/seed permits will be available beginning April 1, 2010. Please visit our permit page to find out everything you’ll need to know about acquiring a permit.

AMR Decreases Costs, Improves Efficiency and Accuracy
s
Automated Meter Reading (AMR) has become quite popular among utility providers in recent years, and for good reason. This process offers a number of advantages that decrease costs and improve both efficiency and accuracy. Cherokee’s AMR Replacement Program is well under way and although the project is nearing completion, there are still a few areas we’re working on. If you receive a notification requesting a change-out, please contact the office to schedule an appointment. >> Learn more about AMR

2010 Rate Outlook

Delivering quality water and wastewater services depend on rates paid by you the customer and our rate structure is designed to recover only the costs to provide the services you expect and deserve. After careful analysis and consideration, staff and the Board of Directors determined a rate increase is necessary to maintain the level of services we currently provide. >> Read more
